Isabel Amaral - Biography

Isabel Amaral stands out today as one of the most requested experts in image, communication and protocol and has developed outstanding trainings and Executive Coaching in Portugal, Spain, Angola and the People’s Republic of China.

She’s the author of “Imagem e Sucesso – guia de protocolo para empresas”, a successful book on image and corporate protocol, (8th edition released in 2008) and “Imagem e internacionalização – Como ter êxito no mercado global”, (2nd edition released in 2010), a book written to help professionals to succeed in the global market. She’s also the co-author of “Ceremonial por ceremonialistas” edited by the Comité Nacional de Ceremonial Público (Brazil’s national committee for public ceremonial) and has papers published in other books in Spain.

A true pioneer in research in this area and in introducing studies of protocol in higher education schools and Universities in Portugal, she has articles published in Portuguese and in international magazines and newspapers.

She received her degree in International Relations by the Instituto Superior de Ciências Sociais e Políticas of Universidade Técnica de Lisboa and runs a specialized consulting firm which stands out for its world class quality and the professionalism of its training courses as well as providing a protocol consulting service for major institutional and official events and ceremonies.

Isabel Amaral has been invited to speak at most international protocol meetings and has also participated in over 350 conferences around the world, in Europe, America, Asia and Africa.

Keynote speaker at several post graduate courses in Portugal, Spain and Brazil, she is the coordinator as well as a teacher at the Post graduate course on Image, Protocol and Event organization, at ISLA Lisboa (Laureate University) with 18 editions since it was launched in 2003.She is also a teacher at the Masters Degree onTourism of the ESHTE (Higher School of Tourim and Hospitality at Estoril).

She’s the president of APEP – Associação Portuguesa de Estudos de Protocolo (the Portuguese association of protocol studies) and was the vice-president of OICP – Organizacíon Internacional de Ceremonial y Protocolo (International Organization of Etiquette and protocol). She’s a member of the Comité Nacional de Ceremonial Público do Brazil and a member of the Academia Argentina de Ceremonial.

In 2006 Isabel Amaral was distinguished with a medal of merit (medalha de mérito em ceremonial e protocolo) for “her great and outstanding work as a teacher, author and other contributions to both public and private organizations.” In the same year she was honored by the Comité nacional de Ceremonial Publico, during the opening of the 13th national congress, in São Paulo, Brazil.
