International Protocol Congress in Spain

Isabel Amaral gave a lecture on the second day of this International Protocol Congress that gathered 300 participants from Spain, Portugal, Israel, Germany, México, Venezuela  and Paraguai at the UNED campus in Madrid on 23-25 April 2014.

She sustained that the close relationship between protocol and power manifests itself internally and externally, playing a major role in diplomacy - since it promotes a framework of normality, efficiency and harmony where these relationships may develop in the scrupulous respect of the principle of equality of States established in the Vienna Congress.

Evoking several historical episodes, since the days of the “dancing diplomacy” to the present day, the purpose of this lecture was to prove that the decline of the role of protocol in XXI century requires a rethinking of its rituals but do not question its necessity as an instrument of diplomacy.

At the end of her lecture, Isabel Amaral received a strong applause and was congratulated by many participants of this International Protocol Congress organized by UNED.
